For the past five summers, I've taken about a week away from the shop to volunteer at Camp Sunshine in Georgia, a summer camp and year-round programming for children with a cancer diagnosis and their families. I teach papermaking all week at the summer camp, and have some really special moments with the campers. During the couple of periods through the week when we didn't have campers making paper with me (like when the Georgia Bulldogs came to visit!), I use the time to make some extra sheets of paper. During a chat in the cabin this past summer, one of the campers described being part of her cabin as having a "Cabin 9 heart." No matter what cabin we are in, we are all have a Camp Heart. Inspired by this camper's words, I've designed the Camp Heart Cards to raise money for Camp Sunshine throughout the year.

These blank cards each feature a heart cut from the handmade paper made during my quiet periods at summer camp, and the funds from each sale will go directly to Camp Sunshine.

It costs about $800 to send a kid to camp for the week, and all of the programming at summer camp and throughout the year is free to families, so fundraising and volunteer work is important! If we sell all of the Camp Heart cards and Camp Paper listed in my shop, we will have raised enough to fund one camper's trip to summer camp next year!
